David Gilbert, Non-Executive Director
David Gilbert is a Non-Executive Director. David has significant experience in the international business arena, particularly in the field of retail and consumer electronics. Commencing in 1981, David enjoyed a long and distinguished career at DSG International plc. David held positions of Group Marketing Director for brands Currys and Dixons before being appointed Managing Director of Currys Group and serving as a member of the DSG board. In 2002 he was appointed Chief Operating Officer of DSG with responsibility for a turnover of £1.5bn. In 2004, David joined Waterstones bookstore as Managing Director. In 2006, he was employed by Goldman Sachs Private Equity to chair a German drugstore chain, Ihr Platz, which in 2008 was successfully sold to a trade buyer.
David’s interests focus on the online retail space, serving as Chairman of Warehouse Express, an internet business in the photographic sector; and acting as a founder of, investor in and advisor to Reevoo.com, an online venture which provides consumer satisfaction data on leading consumer electronics devices. He is also a Trustee and Patron of the Contemporary Arts Society, and a Board member of ARTCO at the Arts Council of England.
